Our naturopathic doctor – Dr. Rick Santimaw – focuses on discerning your symptoms in order to identify and treat your underlying health concerns. An integrative, effective, and sustainable approach to optimal health and a better you!
When you choose to see our naturopathic doctor, you’ll notice that his primary focus is on a holistic approach to your health and well-being. In a visit with Dr. Rick, the goal is to identify your symptoms, provide a diagnosis and begin a treatment plan to treat the underlying causes.
We also know that the most effective and efficient way to get healthy – and stay healthy – is through a multidisciplinary approach. As such, with our naturopathic doctor, it is not at all uncommon to hear recommendations for specialty services or testing, recommendations for lifestyle and nutrition changes, alongside the typical treatments that you could expect to receive from us.

Origins of Naturopathic Medicine in Vancouver Canada
At Electra Health, our ND can test you for both allergies and sensitivities. In the case of allergies, a blood test is required. Our ND will provide you with a lab requisition form to take to LifeLabs. Once the results are in, we will call you to review them with our ND.
In the case of sensitivity testing, our ND draws a minute amount of blood in the clinic through a pin-prick test. The test is then sent out; once the results are in, we will call you to review them with our ND.
Yes! Naturopathy is a great option when it comes to treating gut health. Your digestive system is directly tied to other parts of your body; when it’s not functioning at its best, it can cause symptoms that may not seem to be related to it. This can include skin conditions (eczema, acne, psoriasis etc.), anxiety, weight gain, difficulty sleeping, hair loss, hormonal changes and so much more.
Our naturopathic doctor will look at the role that your gut plays in your overall health and provide treatment recommendations tailored to your needs.
Naturopathy is an excellent form of treatment for a variety of conditions and illnesses, either on its own or alongside other medical interventions. Some common conditions that people use naturopathy for include:

Our first-time patients will find that visiting the acupuncturist is a bit different than visits to most other healthcare practitioners. During the first part of your appointment, your acupuncturist will ask you a series of questions, the acupuncturist will then take your pulse on your wrist, or tap other points on your body using their hand, and might also take a look at your tongue.
The exam while taking into account environmental factors, lifestyle, and the whole person: mind, body, emotions, and spirit. Your acupuncturist will be able to assess the best way to approach your individually-tailored acupuncture treatment regime.
A licensed Naturopathic Doctor (ND) is a primary care practitioner, which takes years of schooling. Our naturopathic doctor – Dr. Rick Santimaw – is a licensed ND. In Canada, naturopathic doctors are required to obtain an undergraduate degree in pre-medical science, followed by a four-year post-graduate program of naturopathic medicine. Once this part of their certification is complete, naturopathic doctors are then obligated to pass regulatory board exams.
As you can see, naturopathic doctors are considered primary care physicians, thanks to meticulous education and regulatory exams, and they are able to offer patients everything from neonatal care to elderly health care, and everything in between.
In contrast, a naturopath is not legally able to provide a diagnosis or prescribe medication.

Olga ValchenkoFebruary 16, 2026.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I cannot recommend Igor Tatarnikov highly enough. This was, without exaggeration, the best massage I have had in Canada. After struggling with lower back tension for many years and trying countless treatments, I finally experienced real, lasting relief. Igor has an exceptional ability to identify the root cause of discomfort and address it with precision and care. His technique is both deeply therapeutic and incredibly effective. What truly sets him apart is his holistic approach. He does not just treat the symptoms; he looks at the whole body, posture, movement patterns, and underlying imbalances. I felt heard, understood, and genuinely cared for throughout the entire session. I can honestly say I have finally found the specialist I have been searching for for so long. If you are dealing with chronic tension or simply want a massage that goes far beyond the ordinary, Igor is the one to see. Very friendly and listens carefully during each appointment. Has helped me a lot with managing neck, back and foot pain. Would recommend her to anyone who needs this treatment! Honey Box Wax StudioFebruary 5, 2026.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Igor Tatarnikov is the holy grail of RMTs. Hands down one of the best massages I’ve had in Vancouver. What sets Igor apart is his full-body, alignment-focused approach he doesn’t just chase symptoms or camp out on one problem area like most RMTs do. He treats the body as a system, and it shows. You can immediately tell he’s exceptionally educated and highly skilled. His touch is confident yet intuitive, with a seamless flow that feels both therapeutic and grounding. Every movement has intention nothing feels rushed, random, or generic. I left feeling noticeably more aligned, lighter, and actually better in my body, not just temporarily relaxed. This is next-level bodywork. If you’re serious about proper care, Igor is the one! Sylvie RobichaudJanuary 25, 2026.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I initially met Jessie for digestive issues a year ago. My situation has greatly improved but I still continue to see her for other reasons as her skills cover more than digestion. She knows which technique is best and treats holistically, not only the symptoms. She is always smiling and greets you warmly. Excellent acupuncturist. She is also treating my husband's back issue now. Highly recommend!! Chams ChamsJanuary 21, 2026.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My name is hamid and this is what I want to say : Rachel was absolutely amazing. From the moment the session started, her professionalism and skill were obvious. She created a calm, welcoming atmosphere and really listened to what my body needed. The massage itself was incredible—thoughtful, precise, and deeply relaxing. I walked out feeling refreshed, loose, and genuinely cared for. Hands down one of the best massage experiences I’ve ever had. Highly recommend Rachel! I walked in stressed, tight, and sore… and walked out feeling lighter, looser, and genuinely renewed. It wasn’t just a massage—it was an experience. Rachel clearly cares deeply about her craft, and it shows in every detail. If you’re looking for someone who is skilled, professional, and truly exceptional at what they do, Rachel is the one. I can’t recommend her enough and will 100% be booking again VahidJanuary 9, 2026.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had a great experience with Jad Hamade. Cesar MDecember 22, 2025.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This was my first time at Electra Health and had Erin Ballantyne as my massage therapist. From the get go she understood my problem and went straight at it, targeting the exact main points of where my pain was at. She is seriously great at what she does as i been to many therapist and NEVER got the kind of treatment she provided. She even went above and beyond to show me some techniques to help improve my situation and offered so send me some info to practice at home. Once our session was done i could feel the pain gone and move my arm without any pain and in ways i was not able to prior to arriving there. A true pleasure to have chosen her and would gladly recommend her to anyone.
