Electra Health

Direct Billing

Electra Health is Vancouver’s oldest multidisciplinary clinic. With over 40 health care professionals across many disciplines, we have offered registered massage therapy, physiotherapy, chiropractic care, acupuncture, osteopathy, naturopathy, counselling, stretch therapy, kinesiology, body work, and active rehab to our clients in downtown Vancouver for the past 25 years.

Please note: While we are happy to provide all of the above-listed services, only the following are available for direct billing – Registered massage therapy, Chiropractic, Physiotherapy, and Acupuncture.

How It Works

In order to bill your extended healthcare plan, our team requires specific information from you. Once you have booked your first appointment, a digital intake form titled “General Intake” will be emailed to you. This form will collect all the information required to offer direct billing. More details on exactly what information is required can be found below.

If you are a returning client and would like to set up direct billing for the first time, or have an insurance policy that has changed since your last visit please let our reception know via phone at 604-685-4325 or email reception@electrahealth.ca. They will then send the digital intake form to you for completion.
Our digital “Direct billing intake form” requires the following information:

  • Your name
  • Your date of birth
  • Policy number and identification number
  • Photo, scan, or PDF of your insurance card
  • Credit card on file

If you are covered under a spouse or other household member, we also require the primary policy holder’s full name and date of birth.

If you are unable to fill out the required information before your appointment, we ask that you arrive 10-15 minutes before your appointment and bring with you your insurance information and valid government-issued photo ID. Our reception team will provide you with a tablet in the clinic to complete the pending intake form.

Please note that we also require an update form to be completed if your insurance information has changed since your last visit.

FAQs

How do I know how much I am covered for?

You can find out what you are covered for from your extended health care company either via phone or online. In some instances, your employer may also know your details. Because this is strictly confidential, Electra Health does not have access to any information pertaining to your insurance limits and the scope of your coverage. We can only provide you with information regarding coverage specific to an appointment, and only after we have submitted for your appointment.

Do you bill to ICBC directly?

Yes! Electra Health bills to ICBC directly with no user fees. If you have been in a car accident, be sure to check out our ICBC clinic and PAARCC program

What if my insurance company only partially covers my visit?

If your insurance company only covers a portion of your visit, we will still submit for you! Our reception team will notify you for any outstanding payments and provide you with a receipt upon payment.
Alternatively, since your account is also set up with your credit card information, we can charge your credit card and you can leave directly after your appointment and we will forward you a receipt of any outstanding charges and payment.

I have two insurance plans, will you bill both insurance companies?

Electra Health can bill to one extended health care company per visit. If you have multiple health care plans, we can provide you a receipt should for any paid outstanding amounts and you can submit to your secondary provider on your own.

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

While Electra Health does not require a doctor’s referral for a visit, we do advise that you check with your insurance provider if they require a doctor’s referral. Some health carriers do require a doctor’s note in order to cover treatments.

If my primary benefits are maxed out, can you direct bill to my secondary insurance?

Yes, we can! However, it is up to you to notify your secondary insurance provider that you have reached your maximum limit. Secondary insurance providers will not cover your full treatment costs if they are not notified correctly. Once you have done so, provide our reception with the correct insurance information and we can bill on your behalf.

Can you pre-bill or backdate my appointments for insurance purposes?

No. Electra Health can only submit to your insurance company on the day of your appointment.

Electra Health is excited to provide this service to our clients. Our aim is to make getting your treatments as easy and care-free as possible, so that you can focus on feeling – and staying – better!
